Morning sunlight, in one calm ritual
Meet thefirst light.
Step outside and take the daylight your body clock is asking for. Then the sky pays you back: stars to collect, mornings to schedule, and proof in your own sleep.
Free. No account. Nothing to scroll.
The ritual
Three steps, then the phone goes away.
DAWN is deliberately small in the morning. It opens a window around sunrise, times your minutes under the sky, and then has nothing left to show you until tomorrow.
Go outside at first light
The app knows your local sunrise and opens the ritual from just before it until two hours after. Outside the window, the button is honestly disabled — with a countdown to tomorrow.
Start the timer, look up
Pick your own target, five minutes to an hour. The timer runs on wall-clock time, so it survives a locked screen, a closed app, or a walk around the block.
Photograph the sky you stood under
When the session ends, the sky becomes the day's circle in your Journal — a year of skies instead of a year of numbers. And the app tells you who was above you: the planets, the sun's house, the stars.
The evening sets up the morning
Tomorrow is prepared tonight.
After dark, the app turns into a quiet planner: tomorrow's sunrise, the sky you will meet — "Mercury, Mars and Jupiter above the horizon, sun in Leo" — your head start from bed to standing outside, and one notification timed so first light finds you already up. No alarm to configure. One toggle.
Why morning light
Your body clock reads light, not clocks.
Daylight in the first hours after waking is the main signal that sets your circadian rhythm for the day. DAWN is built on that one idea — and it stays careful about what it claims.
The sky game
Every morning you meet is stamped with its sky.
Show up at sunrise and DAWN records who stood above you at that exact moment — computed from real astronomy for your real coordinates. Slowly, morning by morning, you collect the heavens.
The rules are strict on purpose. A star counts only when it stands above sixty degrees — high overhead, where no rooftop or tree can block it. A constellation is honoured whole or not at all: one star of its figure too low, and it waits. Each crown means you truly stood beneath it.
The way of mornings
Titles you earn. Ranks you hold.
Six levels walk with you. The first four are yours forever, earned on lifetime mornings. The last two are held, not owned — they read your latest thirty days, they lapse when you drift, and any month can win them back. Tap any title in the app and it tells you what that stage does to your sleep, your rhythm, and your word to yourself.

Star quests
Choose a star. DAWN finds its morning.
Pick any star you haven't met — from the census, or by tapping it in the live night sky — and DAWN charts the exact morning it will stand crowned above you. The date waits on your Today page; stars that share a morning share a card; and on the eve of the meeting, the evening planner says so: "Your star meeting is this coming morning — Vega stands crowned overhead." Schedule one, or schedule ten. Whole constellations can be summoned the same way.
Every date is computed from your own coordinates — a star that never climbs high enough over your town says so honestly.
While you wait for sunrise
The night sky, exactly as it stands over you.
Open DAWN after dark and the home screen becomes a live sky computed for your location: 8,000 catalogued stars, all 88 constellations, the planets where they really are. Study a planet and it becomes a globe you can spin, wrapped in NASA and Solar System Scope imagery up to 8K. Tap a named star and one button offers to meet it in the morning.
Loads about 1 MB of star catalogue on demand — nothing is downloaded until you ask.
Sleep
What the mornings do to your nights.
Connect Apple Health and DAWN pairs each night with the morning after it — on your phone, never uploaded. Once about twenty nights have gathered, it renders the verdict most sleep apps only promise: how much earlier you actually fall asleep on the nights after you caught the light, in your own data, night by night on a chart.
Read-only, on-device. DAWN never writes to Health and never sends sleep anywhere. Delete the app and nothing of it exists.
A pattern, not a prescription. The comparison is your own logged mornings against your own nights — honestly labelled as a pattern, not a medical finding.
Connecting is free. The verdict, full history and trends are part of DAWN Plus.
Today's skies
Proof, not performance.
If you want to, the photo from your session can join an anonymous wall of everyone else's morning. No names, no likes, no comments, no follower counts — just the skies people stood under today. It clears at midnight and fills again with the sunrise.
Opt in, once per day. Sharing is off unless you tap it, and only the photo, the minutes and the sky condition are sent.
Nothing identifies you. No account, no name, no location on the wall — and any photo can be reported and removed.
Privacy
The app has nothing to sell, because it has nothing on you.
Your history stays on your phone. Sessions, photos, streaks, star crowns and quests live in on-device storage. There is no account to make and no server holding your record.
Location never leaves the device. Coordinates are used on-device to compute sunrise, the sky, and your star dates. Decline the permission and DAWN falls back to an approximate city.
No trackers, no ads, no analytics SDKs. The only network calls are the weather forecast, the anonymous daily counter, and the shared-photo wall if you use it.
Sleep stays in Health. DAWN reads sleep from Apple Health on your device, read-only, and never uploads a single night.
